No Lullaby
Weight: W -7
Workout: 3 Mile Run
The run felt good this morning. I only stopped once to change the podcast on the iPod. I was scared to try and do it while running. Sat in the sauna for 15 minutes afterwards and now I feel really good. Hope it lasts.

Naked
Weight: 205
Workout: 3.5 Mile Run

Only 5 more pounds to go. I think for a while i will be posting the weight as a countdown. So currently we are at W -5 Lbs. woo hooo. I got a "get your peanuts here" shake at the gym today for breakfast as well as a protein bar thing for lunch. It is a Quatro Plex High Protein Food Bar. Sounds Yummy. I also was weak and got another grenade. I will wait till this afternoon to drink it though.

I ran a bit extra this morning. I am logging it as 3.5 but actually i ran for 40 minutes at 6.0. I did take a few breaks for water that totaled about 5 minutes(if not more) so that is where the other .5 goes. I think if I do an extra .5 the next to days that will put me at 15 miles for the week. Not too shabby.

Bye-bye Syndrome?

Oy! Bye-Bye Syndrome

I realize that the death of children is a serious issue. But come on I think giving this a cutsey name is ridiculous. This isn't a syndrome,or an affliction its poor driving and not bothering to look around you. If you feel compelled to by a monstrous SUV or even a minivan you should take the time to find out what and where the blindspots are. That's just sensible driving.

I mean think about it you are operating a vehicle that wheighs about a ton and can hurtle down the road at high rates of speed. In fact before you can do just that, hurtle, you have to pass a test and be licensed. For Pete's sake don't turn the poor driving of some unfortunate people and the tragic deaths of children to push people to buy god-darned back-up video cameras.

Additionally who is supposed to be watching these kids when this happens. I know when I was a kid if someone was backing the car out of the garage or driveway I was always either in the car or safely on the sidewalk.

I think the thing that really gets me here is the cutsey frickin name. It just seems like it's trying to assuage some guilt from people that have been part of a terrible tragedy.

Workout: 3 Mile Run

Well, I set the alarm to 4:30 this morning and made it to the gym by 5:00. I ran just over 3 miles because I was paying attention to the podcast from TWIT. I was able to stretch for about 10 minutes and then sat in the sauna for 10 minutes as well. Got to work at 6:59. If I can keep that up I think this could work. I don't think I want to set the alarm to 4:00 any time soon though.

For the record I ran the first .75 miles at 5.9 and then pushed it to 6.0 for the rest. I think I might be ready to just push it to 6.0 for the whole thing. Considering how early I got up and all the running I feel pretty good today. I checked my heartrate during my run and it seemed to be pretty steady at 140 which is, I think, about where I want it while excersing. I should check it sometime today to see what my resting heart rate is nowadays.

I decided to experiment with a new after workout drink this morning. I chose a "Grenade" it says it's thermogenic* whatever that means. I went with this because I think I'm going to stop trying to load up on protein. I think my regular diet takes care of that and I don't really think I need to supplement it. So I went for an energy type drink today. Grenade sports the following stats.

  • Calories 0
  • Fat 0
  • Carbs 0
  • Sugars 0
  • Sodium 190mg
  • Super Citrimax 500mg
  • Kola nut extract 250mg
  • L-Carnitine 250mg
  • Caffeine 75mg
  • ChromeMate 200mcg
  • Gymnema syvestre 172mcg
  • White Willow Bark 172mcg
The sodium is a bit high. But the other stuff is supposed to give you a boost of energy and aid in fat burning type stuff. The only thing that is of note is that it has the following "directions" As a dietary supplement, do not exceed 1 bottle per day. followed by Keep out of reach of children. I must say that I do feel "energized" right now. Hence the length of this post. I may forgo having a fuze drink at lunch today unless I feel rundown later. I am toying with having some coffee to see if they will have to pull me off the ceiling later.

She's My Baby
Weight: 208
Workout: 4 Mile Run
Yep that right people 4 miles today. I even ran 3 of them at 6.0! I will wait to see how badly my body punishes me for this. The main reason I did this was because I made a mistake updating the iPod last night. Because of that I was forced to listen to music. I started at 5.9 today and after the first mile I thought I could handle 6. I also thought it might be a help make up for yesterday. So after I got to 34 minutes (30 running) I decided to play a game called "one more song." Basically I challenged my self to keep running for one more song. The first one was "She's so Modern" by The Boomtown Rats. It's not a very long song at all. Next was "Take a Chance on Me" by Abba. That is suprisingly a pretty long song. So at this point I'm at like 40:30 so I think Ok 1 more song and I have 4 miles done. Next on the shuffle: "Super Trouper" Abba. Actually finished that song at 45 minutes with 4.25 miles on the distance. I walk about .18 miles prior to running. I sat in the sauna for 15 minutes after stretching.

I picked up protein drink from the juice bar too. it was an "ice pro protein" or something like that. It was the ice-blue rasperry flavor. pretty tasty. 160 calories, 40g protein. I had a yogurt and oatmeal when I got to work just to make sure I get enough calories. Hopefully my legs wont tighten up very much later.

Hold Me Down
Weight: 208
Workout: 30 Minute Walk
I think I pulled a muscle in my thigh yesterday while I was stretching after my run. It bothered me most of the afternoon and evening. After stretching this morning it felt better. After about 5 minutes of running though it started to bother me again. I decided to just walk today and stretch it some more. I also spent 15 min in the sauna. It Feels pretty good right now. Not sure about the weight. I think it was too much fish & chips yesterday. Oh well I think it will come back down by tomorrow or saturday.
