Workout: 3 Mile Run

Well, I set the alarm to 4:30 this morning and made it to the gym by 5:00. I ran just over 3 miles because I was paying attention to the podcast from TWIT. I was able to stretch for about 10 minutes and then sat in the sauna for 10 minutes as well. Got to work at 6:59. If I can keep that up I think this could work. I don't think I want to set the alarm to 4:00 any time soon though.

For the record I ran the first .75 miles at 5.9 and then pushed it to 6.0 for the rest. I think I might be ready to just push it to 6.0 for the whole thing. Considering how early I got up and all the running I feel pretty good today. I checked my heartrate during my run and it seemed to be pretty steady at 140 which is, I think, about where I want it while excersing. I should check it sometime today to see what my resting heart rate is nowadays.

I decided to experiment with a new after workout drink this morning. I chose a "Grenade" it says it's thermogenic* whatever that means. I went with this because I think I'm going to stop trying to load up on protein. I think my regular diet takes care of that and I don't really think I need to supplement it. So I went for an energy type drink today. Grenade sports the following stats.

  • Calories 0
  • Fat 0
  • Carbs 0
  • Sugars 0
  • Sodium 190mg
  • Super Citrimax 500mg
  • Kola nut extract 250mg
  • L-Carnitine 250mg
  • Caffeine 75mg
  • ChromeMate 200mcg
  • Gymnema syvestre 172mcg
  • White Willow Bark 172mcg
The sodium is a bit high. But the other stuff is supposed to give you a boost of energy and aid in fat burning type stuff. The only thing that is of note is that it has the following "directions" As a dietary supplement, do not exceed 1 bottle per day. followed by Keep out of reach of children. I must say that I do feel "energized" right now. Hence the length of this post. I may forgo having a fuze drink at lunch today unless I feel rundown later. I am toying with having some coffee to see if they will have to pull me off the ceiling later.
