CNN.COM So, because we have "saved innocent lives" it's ok to hide people away in secret prisons around the world. Of course it's not like we would be torturing them there. The president said so, it must be true.

This upsets me for the following reason. It is the belief that saving lives justifies the sacrifice of morals and ethics. That is simply ignorant. Yes, it would be terrible if we were unable to stop terrorist attacks because we did not vigorously interrogate these people. But what is worse is that we have abandoned the morals of our society. We are supposed to be The Good Guys™ The ones who would die for principles. It's this type of nihilistic justification for bad actions that get's me angry. This news should be met with screaming in the streets and serious consequences for all involved. ARRRRGGGGGHHHHH

I really need to get spam filtering figured out. I think bogofilter is the answer. I just need to work out how to train it properly so that it will recognize spam correctly. Since it doesn't rely that much on headers and just on work list's it should be pretty straight forward. I just need about 20 hours to edit the comments plugin for blosxom and to write a tool to handle training etc. I should be able to have that done by late '09 :)

The run was pretty good today. I think I can push it to 2 miles tomorrow. If I can keep from snacking today I should see another good drop in the weight tomorrow.

The brisketening was quite the success. The weight was definitely worth it. I hope that it will come into line pretty quick. Especially if I run 3 miles tomorrow. We'll see.

Today was Cecilia's first day of preschool. I think she had a good time. She drew a picture and used the special Bean sized potty that flushes all by itself! I'm sure that will be a big hit. She was a bit overwhelmed afterwords. I hpe to get a more complete report from her this evening. She wasn't screaming and crying so she must have liked it.

Man I just filled out my time card. I noticed on the accrual page that I currently have 260 hours of Vacation time and 317 Hours of Sick Leave, plus the additional 150 of extended illness leave! I should take more time off. That is a total of 98 days! *cough* *cough* See ya! :)

Tried to go a little over a mile today. Wasn't really able to push too far. I also thought it might be good not to over do it since I have to mow the jungle that is my lawn tonight.

Going to be doing the BBQ thing this weekend. I think I am going to use the sauce I made last time and break it into three sauces. One sweet, one hot, and then just the regular. MMMmmmmmMMM BBQ

I am playing with tieing the comments plugin to spamassassin to try and curb the blog spam that I have been getting. I'm not sure if it will work though. Spamassassin seems to prefer actual mail messages and is scoring blog posts artificially high because there are no headers or address fields. I will keep working on it though.

Ran a mile today. Was on the Treadmill for about 40 minutes. It felt pretty good. Getting excited about BBQ this weekend too.

Slept late today. I didn't feel exceptionally tired yesterday but I guess I was. I will try to get to bed early tonight. However we are watching Buckaroo Bonzai at UHACC tonight. So that might interfere.

Ran a mile straight through today. I will either do the same tomorrow or try for 2. It didn't feel to bad. I think the hardest part is just getting myself motivated to run. Once I get started it's not so bad. It just takes quite a bit of mental cheerleading to get going.

Owen has a new "trick." He snaps(or tries to) his fingers at us. If he is asking for something or trying to communicate something he will now snap his fingers. It's both cute and a little aggravating. I like that he picks up on stuff like this but the reality of it is rough. I guess he is learning that it's tough to find good help

I know that he is doing it because of the way we treat Macy. Macy is the dog by the way. Usually when we(I) tell Macy to lay down we snap our fingers and point to her bed. Owen seems to have noticed that. He also noticed that when we call her we make "kissing" noises. So he does that too. He'll say "MAY-SHE" and blow kisses. That's cute.

Asking for more cheddar bunnies and snapping his fingers, not so much.

Ran a little off and on this morning. Probably ran 1 mile total. I will try to run more tomorrow.

I seem to be getting an increased amount of blog spam. I am researching some different spam filtering options for this. But for now if I get a spam message I am just adding the ip of the spammer to the drop list on the firewall. It's a bit heavy handed but it will work for now.
