Ran 1 mile today. The new shoes feel great. The mile felt good too. I'll see what feels good in the morning. The other pair of new shoes feels pretty good as well.

It is strange how some things get lost for a while then suddenly show up. The latching mechanism on the CRV's glove box has been loose for years now. One of the screws fell out. The other one works it's way out pretty regularly so I need to keep putting it back in. Even then the glove box is pretty tempermental. Finding a replacement screw generally falls well off the bottom of my todo list. This weekend Jennifer told me that she couldn't get the glove box open. So I took a look at it. The other screw had fallen out and it was stuck closed. Which I guess is better than the glove box being stuck open. So i pull out some stuff and find the screw. Now, I have taken everything out of the glove box several times in the last few years and never once been able to find the second screw. Yet Sunday after noon it was right there. I put both screws in and tightened them down and now the glove box is back in action. I am pretty sure there is some sort of quantum worm hole at work here. That screw has not been there for 4 years and now *plip* there it is. Strange. I'm sure this could be some sort of analogy or even allegory but it's early and I am not seeing it. I just get a kick out of it.

I don't know what it is but I just can't seem to make myself run right now. I just don't seem to be able to get over the hump from walking to running. This is a bit annoying. I need to find whatever motivation is there that will get my ass in gear and start running.

The One I Love
Weight: 213
Workout: 30 Minutes Treadmill

I woke up tired this morning. I did not feel like running. So I didn't. dynup.net was having issues most of the morning as well so I have not been able to post most of the day. That seems to be all cleared up now.

I have recently been experimenting with skeletone and abbrev in emacs. Its pretty nice. It allows for the creation of skeletons to use in coding/editing. A skeleton is just that the framework for a piece of text, ie, a basic html page, C# class, try-catch block. Anything of that sort. A template in other workds. Except they can also include prompts for information to be included. Abbrev's are abbreviations. So if I want to add a method to to a class I type mthd <SPACE> I am then asked if it's public or private, what the return type is, and what the method name is. Emacs then creates the method stub for me like this

public void methodName( ) { }

that example doesn't really save that much typing but the idea carries to any other type of composition as well. The little box with the weight and workout is a skeleton now for instance.

The combination is really rather nice for most of the editing I do all day. So many saved keystrokes, even better, so many less annoying typo's

Times in rss now

I changed the rss feed so it should now report the time that a story was posted in the rss. It seems to be off on some posts though. this post will serve as a test

What a Day

Ok it's 10:34 and I just finished my coffee from 6:45. Our main SQL box was down after a reboot. That's been resolved unfortunately many other apps did not like the broken connection to the DB. Tango server especially. After rebooting two other servers things now seem to be ok. But damn what a morning!

Back Home

The trip was fantastic. Everyone had a good time. The visit with family at Shellie and Gibby's was a great treat and I think everyone had a good time. We have stuffed ourselves full of jewish soul food and I will not be weighing in tomorrow. I will be runing as much as I can though. I think the picture sums up the visit pretty well though.

Bean v Bean

This morning was nice we walked down to Milenium Park and took a picture of The Bean with "The Bean". We left pretty early so the streets were pretty empty for most of the way. We stopped at White Hen and got some breakfast and ate by a fountain. Owen saw 3 dogs so his morning was complete pretty early. Cecilia had a great big muffin and that made her day.

The Bean was really pretty neat. Bean was able to touch it and run all around the park. Owen was riding in the back back most of the way. He was completely awe struck by the all the buildings and noises. So much so that on the way back from the park he annointed me in his own special way. Owen was so overwhelmed by the time we got home that he needed a brief rest period. Hopefully a big lunch will help him to sleep on the way home this afternoon too.

Room Service to the rescue

Well, as much as we tried to push the naps this afternoon there were no takers. Cecilia is a wreck. Owen, is owen, happy and quiet but exhausted. Of course he had a small nap in the stroller after lunch today. Looks like it's room service to the rescue! The upside of this is that everyone should sleep really well tonight and be well behaved tomorrow for yummy deli food. If we are really lucky Cecilia and Owen will both sleep in the car on the way home. Taking Monday off was a good idea. Of course depending on how tomorrow goes I may gon in anyway.

We were going to attempt a restaurant for dinner but the Rainforest cafe was the only place that we could think of to go where a melt down would not be noticed. Unfortunately even at 5:15 there was a 25 minute wait. Then the thunder started and Bean made it know that She would not be eating there AT ALL! I was really suprised that there was a wait that early. Oh well. Maybe there will be something good on HBO.
