I Am ... I Said
Weight: ???
Workout: 30 Minutes X-Trainer
Did 30 Minutes on the X-Trainer at Level 2. I'm feeling pretty good too. I decided to stop at the new bagelman/Denny's Doughnut place to see if they still had lox in the hopes of picking up a sammich for lunch. Turns out not much has changed there. They still have lox on the menu, however, when I'm ordering it there isn't any in stock. sigh.

The Trip
Weight: ???
Workout: 30 Minutes Treadmill
Did the treadmill today. wasn't able to run 25 minutes but still ran for a total of about 18 minutes. Not too bad. I think I'm coming out of the slump. I think next week I will be back on track again.

Now for an observation. The House Ethics Committee has been deadlocked for some time now over the change in the rules that were pushed through last year. As I understand it the new rules made the following change. Previously if there was a concern raised and the Republican Chairman and the Democratic ranking member of the committee could not reach a consensus on whether or not to investigate an investigation had to be done after 45 days. This seems like a good rule to me. If the committee can't decide if there has been a violation on the presented facts then an investigation needs to be done to get more information. The new rules basically state that if a consensus is not reached then after 45 days nothing happens. NOTHING HAPPENS unless a majority vote of the 10 memeber committee calls for it.

So basically if a congressperson behaves unethically and the ranking officials of the two parties hold out on calling for an investigation then nothing really happens. This of course assumes that the majority vote couldn't be accomplished. In a way it's beautiful. Really it is, in the same way that a great drive by Tiger Woods, or a performance of a concert pianist is. Seeing something done at its best is truly a magnificent site. In this case it just happens to be corruption raised to an art form.

The part that really raises this to an art is the way the debate on this issue has been framed. The republicans are making the statement that the democratic opposition to this change is merely "playing politics" and is "keeping any real work from being done." A quote from a republican senator I heard on NPR yesterday boiled down to saying that the republicans are results oriented while the Dems are merely wasting time over the process. So basically the ends justify the means. How pragmatic, how absolutely Nixonian(if that's not a word it sure should be!).

It makes me wonder how these people can sleep at night

This Time of Year
Weight: 223
Workout: 20 Minutes Treadmill
I decided to take it easy today since I did not eat much yesterday. I walked for 20 Minutes and did some stretching. I feel pretty good. The weight seems to be pretty consistent and that is I suppose a good thing. I am going to try and start back with the weights tomorrow. We'll see how that goes.

Superman
Weight: ???
Workout: 30 Minutes X-Trainer
I stepped the x-trainer up to level 2 today. It was a pretty good workout. My legs are a little weak from it actually. but I guess that just means it was a good workout.

I am not sure but I believe today is a voting day here in town. I am not even sure who is running. That is kind of a shame. I think the mayoral race in bloomington is uncontested but I'm not sure. I think that it is a safe bet that the guy from State Farm, Steve something, is a shoo in.

Sadly though I don't think I could give any type of information on the rest of the field. I really need to get more involved in local politics and community. Mostly becasue of the last national election. But also because I think it would also be a good example for my kids. It would be nice to get to know a little about who is running this town and the especially the schools. That second part is really a little more important to me lately.

Tuesday's Dear
Weight: 226 lbs
Workout: 30 Minutes Bike
Uh-oh looks like the chocolates and not eating salads for dinner have caught up to me. Hopefully the weight will drop back down soon. No more slacking and missing the gym!

Sniper
Weight: 222
Workout: 30 Minutes X-Trainer
Wow, even with all the slack this week I still dropped a pound. I only got on the scale to see how bad the damage was. Pretty nice suprise.

Ok here is something that has been floating around in my head for a few days. My son is due right around passover. My first son, you know, as in first born son. So what I'm not sure about is whether the hospital will have an issue with the lamb's blood. Also would I just need to do the delivery room or the hospital? Oh the issues!
